PhD candidates could apply for the following scholarships and fellowships:
HKPF provides an annual stipend of HK$240,000 (approximately US$30,000) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a period of up to three years. More than 230 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2017/18 academic year. For awardees who need more than three years to complete their PhD studies, additional support may be provided by HKU. By applying for the HKPF, the candidate is automatically considered for both the University Postgraduate Fellowships (UPF) with at least HK$205,900 stipend per year and the Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS) with at least HK$188,400 stipend per year.
The URFP is a prestigious programme aimed to enhance students’ learning experience and to nurture the next generation of researchers/scholars. It offers opportunities for academically outstanding undergraduate students to undertake research under the guidance and supervision of academics who have a strong research track record and experience in training research postgraduate students. Students enrolled in the URFP are required to undertake a research study. If research internship forms an essential part of the research study, the enrolled students will be considered for awards for undertaking such research internships locally, in the Mainland or overseas.
